This is normally something we only experience during the annual Christmas speech, but on August 15th, you will be able to hear a special message from King Charles to the people on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.
VJ Day stands for “Victory over Japan Day” and marks the day in 1945 when Japan capitulated and World War II could finally be declared over.
King Charles’ speech will be pre-recorded, and according to the Daily Mail, it will be audio only.
There is no word on where exactly it can be heard, but it will be broadcast before King Charles and Queen Camilla attend a memorial service in Staffordshire on August 15.
This memorial service will be broadcast live on the BBC.
In addition to the royal couple’s participation in the memorial service, the day will be marked in various places by, among others, Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Prince Richard and Danish-born Duchess Birgitte.
Later in the fall, a reception for veterans will be held at Windsor Castle, where it is possible that Prince William and Princess Catherine will also attend.
However, nothing has yet been officially announced about which royals will attend the reception.
