Peter Phillips, who is the son of Princess Anne and thus a cousin of Prince William, had been on one knee with an exquisite diamond ring and had received a ‘yes’.

Subsequently, Prince William and Princess Kate were some of the first to be notified of the happy event.

It was stated in the announcement on behalf of the newly engaged couple, according to Hello Magazine :

“Both families were jointly informed of the announcement and were delighted with the wonderful news of their engagement. Their Majesties The King and Queen, The Prince and Princess of Wales have been informed of the announcement. A date for the wedding has not yet been officially set.”

Peter Phillips is the eldest child of Princess Anne and her first husband, Mark Phillips, and is also the eldest grandson of Queen Elizabeth.

This is the second time that the princess’s son has gotten engaged. The first time was to Canadian-born Autumn Kelly, whom he married in 2008. Together they had daughters Savannah and Isla in 2010 and 2012, respectively, but in 2019 the couple separated and were finally divorced two years later.

Harriet Sperling has a daughter, Georgia, who is the same age as Peter Phillips’ youngest daughter.
