King Charles has officially begun his summer vacation at Balmoral in Scotland with a traditional welcoming ceremony in front of the castle.
Wearing a kilt, the King inspected a guard of honour from the Royal Regiment of Scotland, while Queen Camilla spent the day on a more informal shopping trip in Ballater with her daughter and grandchildren.

At the same time, Prince Andrew has also arrived at Balmoral, but according to the Daily Mail without the usual security support and apparently alone in a lodge on the estate.
His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, and daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, are expected to join him later.
Problematic behavior
The distance between the king and his brother is being noted in light of the continuing revelations about Andrew in a new book, which details his close relationship with financier Jeffrey Epstein, mysterious financial connections and problematic behavior.
Prince Andrew opted out of the Christmas celebrations at Sandringham last year so as not to be a distraction, but even though he is now back at Balmoral, it is unknown whether he and the king will spend any time together during their stay.
